not nappy enough?

So, I've decided to get my hair cut. It has been three years since my last one and I have since moved. A new city means a new barber. This lady came highly recommended and I like her work. All good, right? Well, first she did not want to cut my hair because she thinks I'll regret it. I've thought about it. I wanna cut it. End of discussion....

I tell her that I have been that short before, so it's not a big deal. She finally agrees. She runs her fingers through my hair and says, "your hair is not nappy enough to get cut." Ummm, huh? I mean, yea I have soft hair, but I've never been told it's not nappy enough to get cut. She asks me when I washed it last. The day before yesterday. She says, "well, wait a couple of days to let it nap up and then come back."

Wow. All I can say is wow.
