So, last night I was thinking back over my day. Not that it was all that exciting but I was just thinking. I finally took a badly needed trip to the barbershop. I was starting to look a little rough. I am so particular and funny about my hair that I was really worried about walking into a random shop. But, I need a hair cut in the worst way.
I decided to go to this shop that I have walked past on several occasions. I have never seen a lot of people in there so I was wondering about the quality of their work. But then, I was like they are downtown so people are probably in and out. I was like what's the worst that can happen. I get a bad cut. That's why they make hats.
So, I friend of mine takes me to the shop (he steps out and miss the following conversation). Dude was like it'll be a couple of minutes. No problem. He finishes with the other dude and walks over to the CD player. I'm waiting on the barber to motion that he is ready for me. He was like 'you waiting on me to come over there and walk you over.' I knew I was going to like him then.
I sit down and tell him what I want. He was like nice cut. Who did your cut? I was like a dude outta town. He said 'what you were doing there? you military?' No. 'Don't tell me you were locked up.' No, I was visiting somebody. 'Boyfriend?' No. 'Girlfriend?' Yep. 'Oh, so you family? Ain't nothing wrong with that. You feel me?' I hear you. 'I don't need you to hear me. I need you to understand and comprehend what I'm saying.'
He was such a cool dude. He gave me a great cut. He even did my eyebrows (at no extra cost). It seems like only Black men can do my eyebrows the way I like them done. I think I have found my barber. While he was doing my eyebrows, two dudes walked in. One of them was like 'hey, i thought only women got their eyes done.' The barber was like 'this is a woman. You ain't never seen a sexy woman with a short haircut. You can't recognize a beautiful Black woman?'
I'm glad he had my back. On my way out the barber was like 'look at her. she sexy as hell.' One of the random dudes was like yea she do look good. What's up baby? I smiled and kept on walking. Just one of those random happenings that
Make. No. Sense.
