disney on ice!

One thing y'all don't know about Foxy (and probably couldn't tell from some of my posts, oops) is that I am a big, BIG kid. When I saw the commercial for Disney on Ice, I squealed, yes squealed don't judge me, "I wanna go". I said this to no one in particular. It was a knee jerk reaction to the awesomeness that I knew the show would bring. Again, don't judge me. Luckily, also sitting in my living room was a friend of mine. She gave me the laser beam side-eye O__o! I didn't care. Shoot, Disney stories are what I cut my teeth on when first learning to read on my own. And yes, I believe in happily ever after. But I also recognize that all the princesses went through their own version of hell and high water to get there. We tend to over look that. But I digress...

The show was all that I expected it to be. I don't know who enjoyed the show more, me or the little cutie sitting next to me. At one point we both squealed, 'It's Belle!'. OMG, during the princess segment of the show, the little one and I were conferring on who would come out of the door next. When she didn't recognize who a person was (or what story they were referring to) she would ask me 'who is that one?' It was great. We jammed out to some of the Disney hits. I'm getting excited just remembering it. It warmed my heart to see this little, brown baby singing some of the same songs I sang when I was her age. She was all into the show (like I wasn't, ha!). Then, a little girl behind us joined in on the fun.

Yea, I got the side-eye from the parents, but they were just sitting there with their arms folded. I'm all for having pride and not wanting to look foolish in public, but if you have a young child who loves Disney movies and you bring them to Disney on Ice please be prepared to sing and dance. Be prepared by knowing the names of the characters. At the very least, clap along. Dang! At one point, I wonder if the little cuties Mom even watched the movies with her. After belting out "Hakuna Matata", little cutie asked me (with wide eyes) 'you know these songs?' Her Mom just looked at me crazy. Anywho, the little cutie and I bonded over Disney songs.

Now that I have gushed over the show, there were a couple of things I did not appreciate. The show where I am (cause apparently the one on the Gulf Coast does) did not have Tiana in it. No Tiana! Are you kidding me? How can the new princess not be in the show? Even the little cutie knew this wasn't right. At the end of the show, she said the show can't be over because Princess Tiana had not come yet. She sounded like she wanted to cry. I really could not believe she was not in the show. Ugh! I was also disappointed that Cars was not in the show. I was most disappointed that Tinkerbell was nowhere to be found. Ummm, what? You gotta have Tink. Not only does she fly over the castle in everything Disney, she provides the fairy dust that makes Disney...well...magical.

All in all, I had a great time. The show ran about 2 hours. I don't really have a ranking system, so I'll give it 4 out of 5 peaches (since I'm from GA!). They lost a whole peach for leaving out Tiana, which really

Makes. No. Sense.

  1. Awww... this post is so cute. Cinderella is my favorite princess from childhood... I could relate to her. I also love The Lion King!

  2. Not judging you at all, I'm a bigger kid, I just love watching cartoons with my son and I watched PBS from 7am to 12pm when I was on bed-rest while pregnant, I think he was born singing the Caillou theme song.

Anyway my favorite Princess is Arielle. I sing all the disney songs too!!
